Majella Greene is a qualified social worker with over 10 years experience in the substance misuse field. An advocate for Motivational Interviewing for the past 12 years she has used the skills with clients, supervisees and in groups. Majella’s style is in keeping with the spirit of MI. The training is an interactive journey through MI – sessions are dynamic, relaxed and informative. Skills are fine tuned and developed.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a way of working with people towards making positive changes in areas of their life that maybe problematic. This might be changing drug and alcohol use, health and lifestyle changes.
Phase I
Phase I will assist you in identifying “change talk”, looking at the 5 core skills and principles of Motivational Interviewing. Learning how to effectively reflect back key aspects of ambivalent thoughts and feelings and allowing the person to consider their options with regards to their current behaviour. By the end of this course you will have knowledge and experience of the opening strategies in MI.
Phase II
Phase II is how to support people in strengthening their commitment to change, ensuring that sufficient environmental factors are available in terms of support networks, that the individual has a clear short-term, mid-term and longer-term visions of where they would like to be and feel confident in their own ability to bring about change for themselves.
